How Apprenticeships Can Serve the Neurodivergent with Susan Biszewski-Eber
Tuesday Oct 04, 2022
Tuesday Oct 04, 2022
Are you stuck on what you want to do or what career path you want to pursue? 🤔
Registered apprenticeship programs have made huge strides in helping gifted individuals achieve confidence in reaching their potential, finding meaningful jobs they love, and making life choices that align with their heart's desires.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ How Apprenticeships Can Serve the Neurodivergent with Susan Biszewski-Eber.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ My very good friend, Susan Biszewski-Eber, has been in the workforce and career-development world for the past 22 years. She's proven that developing registered apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs best support people with neurodivergence. For gifted people floundering in making career choices, there's always a place you can go and a new path you can take.
✔️ We have made significant breakthroughs to finally consider neurodivergence as a unique benefit rather than being considered a problem or an illness. It's time to stop looking at it only as diagnostic criteria, which is the common conversation.
✔️ Newer apprenticeship programs in various industries are based on competencies. Neurodivergent individuals can move into competency-based apprenticeship programs based on their skills, not the set amount of time required to accomplish them. Employers can set the wage scale and provide rewards based on benchmarks.
✔️ Apprenticeships encourage mentoring. For someone uninitiated in a particular career and building on-the-job training, they can't go wrong. Because regardless of which of the multiple intelligences one falls under, one can have the ability to use that intelligence immediately guided by an experienced co-worker or mentor.
✔️ The truth is, we are all divergent neurologically, and it's not just a brain thing. It's the full experience of all the nervous-system neurons in the body. The conversation needs to be expanded and looked at from the strength benefit, providing life and career support for how someone learns, processes things differently, and matches up with the right jobs. We can have more confidence, productivity, and alignment when we support each other's uniqueness.
✔️ When you're starting to look at a career, it is always best to seek advice from seasoned professionals who provide a broader perspective. You can access mentors from apprenticeships, programs, and career development projects that best support gifted individuals like you.

How to Break the Cycle
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Tuesday Sep 27, 2022
Whether it's relationships, people, habits, or things — there's always the difficulty of letting go and moving on from something that has been a part of you. Change is good, but it can be downright scary. Letting go requires releasing things, opening our hands from life's death grip, and allowing things to flow.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ How to Break the Cycle.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Everybody desires to break a negative cycle in their life. Multiple people I work with struggle with pain acquired in their personal lives or their families, generation after generation. There are practical things to do to overcome patterns that no longer serve you.
✔️ The first step is to tell ourselves the truth that we're in a cycle or in a pattern that's not serving us for the highest good. Sometimes that's hard because our ego, that's not our amigo, often wants to make things a certain way to keep things and the status quo going. We tend to keep things moving in complacency or ease and not want to open up Pandora's box. That willingness to go within and tell the absolute truth can be daunting.
✔️ It takes courage and tremendous guts to make the changes and free ourselves. Suit up, show up, and buckle up because breaking patterns and achieving generational healing are not for the weak of heart. The result is wonderful, but it's not easy. 💜
✔️ Release the story and the identification with the pain.
Be careful how you give control to the words you utter. 🤹♀️ Suppose you identify yourself as someone with trauma, domestic violence, addiction, or disease issues. In that case, all those changes you're making are missing the mark because the object of attention is still the problem.
If I say, "I have cancer or am fighting cancer," it is not shifting or healing the pattern because the object of focus is the same. Breaking the pattern would mean, "I am focused on optimal health." Remember, the body bears the burden and holds on to all the discord inside you. Choose to free the body and make a difference.
✔️ Look at yourself in the mirror and make a habit of meeting with yourself as your day's most important appointment. Speak blessings into you, utter affirmations and self-love, and see yourself facing the world with more confidence and courage.

Bringing Out Greatness with Dr. Kathleen Friend
Tuesday Sep 20, 2022
Tuesday Sep 20, 2022
Are you at a place in your life wherein you can say: "I was made for this?"
If you aren't yet, stop resisting that little voice, that inkling that says there's more to life for you. It'll keep coming back until you finally listen. Say yes to your heart's desires.
Join this insightful new episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ Bringing Out Greatness with Dr. Kathleen Friend.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Dr. Kathleen Friend is a living testimony that age is no hindrance to achieving our true life's purpose. As a child psychiatrist, she also holds a BA in vocal performance and went to music school in her 50s! She is a strong advocate for following the passions in one's heart and seeing the strengths in all.
✔️ The cemetery is where millions of dreams are buried. For the lucky ones going through life, breathing and living — it is never too late to hear the voice of your heart and go in the direction of your greatest calling.
✔️ Smart, bright or gifted people in this culture are over-reinforced for how to think and under-reinforced for how we feel and what our soul is saying. We achieved the gifts of modern times yet what we lost is a true connection with nature, with ourselves. People need to relearn by listening to that voice of the heart so they can understand the purpose of their existence.
✔️ Start with the intention to let your heart speak. Dr. Friend reminds us that the soul has a unique fingerprint, and we hear that through the heart. She teaches heart rhythm meditation that strengthens that part of the nervous system to counteract anxiety.
✔️ Try to see the divinity in each person you meet. When we see these divine qualities that each of us has and honor that, we can achieve greatness together. We are one, and our hearts connect us.

Kathleen Friend MD is a Child Psychiatrist and sole proprietor of the Greatness Chair, LLC. She is an international speaker, author of the Greatness Chair series, musician, and Heart Rhythm Meditation teacher living in Tucson, Arizona.
She is on a mission to change the paradigm in Child Psychiatry and put one million children in the Greatness Chair.
Her books include two children's books: The Greatness Chair and Sarah in the Greatness Chair and a book for parents and teachers called The Greatness Chair Solution, which teaches a simple, accessible method to bring out the best in children.

Using Giftedness for Harm
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
Tuesday Sep 13, 2022
I have dedicated the last 45 years to helping people, including myself, not suffer any more or, by possible means, to help suffer less. I have seen in many cases how giftedness, when not addressed in a healthy manner, can cause a lot of harm to society. There's an enormous consequence we're paying for when the gifted part of us is not being awakened, honored, cherished, and taught the right thing to do.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ Using Giftedness for Harm with Dianne A. Allen.
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ High levels of inner pain, disconnection, and angst are common for gifted people. When somebody is not supported in healthy ways to bring out the goodness in them — they can go awry, and things can happen that don't work very well. Many of the blame and violence in our culture have to do with the smart, gifted, highly-sensitive people who have felt lost and don't know what to do.
✔️ Gifted people aren't all saints. Research a while back found that incarcerated gang leaders tested as gifted individuals, as they focus more on manipulation, coercion, and power in their roles as leaders.
✔️ Giftedness can be used to cause harm when the one who possesses it is disconnected from who they are. Filled with anger, blame, and shame — people can start to hold everyone else responsible for what's happening with themselves, their family, and their country.
✔️ Be a gifted person in the world with critical thinking, inner resources, and a moral compass. For those who are awake and paying attention, it's time for us to take a stand and do our work, especially with gifted children. We must teach critical thinking and executive functioning, and fill in the holes that traditional parenting created as gaps in our culture. Let us emphasize how our children must learn to develop inner resources and be assured that it's ok not to have all the answers to everything, but that we are present to support and help them get there.
✔️ Quit looking outside of yourself for the answers. The ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle stated that all the answers are outside us. I beg to disagree, because what we're here to do, to create what's amazing and beautiful, is made possible when we live by our truths and seek answers from within.
✔️ Become a force for good. People like me and all the others who support the twice-exceptional like you can help you be open, listen to your soul, and be willing to take action in the direction of the highest good for all. For the exceptional and gifted, you're here in this world to awaken others and to bring your creativity. You can only do that when you dial within, connect inside of you and own your truth.

How To Find Your Gifted Voice with Erin Roth
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
Tuesday Sep 06, 2022
Actor, writer and director, Erin Roth shares her methods in teaching artists and non-artists the techniques of master voice and Shakespeare teacher, Patsy Rodenburg. Learn to breathe with the most ease and to support your body in releasing stress and tension to pursue your purpose.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ How To Find Your Gifted Voice with Erin Roth.
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ Gifted people hold themselves back. Often, people we find with a tight jaw are those who grew up being told not to say something and trying to hold their truth in. It's incredible what happens when you learn to break that energetic pattern and find safety in expressing yourself.
✔️ Free your gift by freeing your voice. As an actor, Erin trains by working with her body, breath, and voice. She has improved through these methods on herself and by also teaching others. "There's just no separation between the two. I always start on a very practical level, working physically with people on their breath system and freeing their voices. And when I say free your voice, it's freeing it from extra tensions, extra habits that make it hard to communicate or speak…”
✔️ Learn how to be OK taking up the space you take up in the world. Fear will always shut you down. Erin reminds us to learn to be OK with taking up the space you take up in the world. That's a physical, mental, emotional, and energetic thing we must learn to fulfill our purpose.
✔️ If you want to talk to your audience and the people you serve with the most impact, you've got to learn to be present, connect beyond words, and reach their hearts. As a gifted thespian, Erin delights in how live theater delivers so much impact for the actors and the audience. Presence plays a huge part in breaking through invisible walls and inviting people into an incredible connection where we can all contemplate our shared humanity together.
✔️ Mindfulness has become a fad lately, but it's something that will never go away. Numerous studies show tangible benefits, such as relieving pain and addressing anxiety and depression. People are waking up to the power of presence and being in that moment.
How do you include mindfulness in your daily life?

Why Psychological Safety Is Important In the Workplace
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
Tuesday Aug 30, 2022
Burnout levels have reached new heights as workers juggle living and working at home. Whether it's WFH, back to the office, or hybrid arrangements that function for you and your organization, what begs to be given importance now is reassessing this: Does your leadership implement a culture of courage?
▶️ Why Psychological Safety is Important in the Workplace with Dianne A. Allen.
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ We all keep hearing about the phenomenon of the Great Resignation as numerous people are quitting work. Individuals are taking a stand for what's good, right, and true for themselves. This occurrence is what I positively believe is a part of the Great Awakening. Gifted people are writing their resignation letters to move on with the old, and to pursue the valuable new that life has to offer.
✔️ Just because it was done that way decades ago doesn't mean it's appropriate today. Psychological safety is required for healthy human functioning, including in the workplace. When I was younger and starting my career, I believed it was noble to be in a hard and painful situation dealing with people at work. In the past, what was "abusive" was the normal thing and was collectively tolerated.
✔️ Today, leadership in the workplace is required to foster connection, enhance empathy and embrace vulnerability to achieve higher outcomes for their teams. There are so many things that we believe to be true in handling human capital then that aren't true now. It doesn't mean they were lies, but we've grown in our awareness and understanding that we have a different truth today and that helping people feel safe is the #1 priority.
✔️ You could be retraumatizing somebody in your little world and not even know it. Psychological safety is needed in today's fast-changing world of work. The frequent turnover of employees is primarily affected by a culture of fear. This breeds a lack of engagement, discomfort in sharing new ideas, and reluctance to make new approaches when facing challenges. An organization can only tap the genius of their humans when they feel safe to authentically be.
✔️ If you're an employer, supervisor, or manager — it is time to assess if you are creating psychological safety for your people.
-Do you listen attentively when they speak and value their thoughts, or do you always get distracted?
-Do you blame and single them out when mistakes are made?
-Do you tolerate negativity or nip it in the bud right away?
-Do you disdain vulnerability, or encourage transparency and feedback?
Hiring someone to work for you requires giving them the honor, dignity, and respect they deserve.

How to Declutter Your Home and Your Life With Krista Lockwood
Tuesday Aug 23, 2022
Tuesday Aug 23, 2022
Decluttering can be daunting for gifted people, but it is doable. You don't need to exhaust yourself. Make use of the free blocks of time in a day, and little by little, let go of things that no longer serve you in your current moment.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ How to Declutter Your Home and Your Life with Krista Lockwood.
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ Before she became a decluttering supermom, Krista literally packed her whole life's belongings (and her young family with three kids) into suitcases when she had to make a major move from Alaska to Florida. She describes it as a "purge" that has been the most challenging and life-changing.
✔️ Everybody has different clutter thresholds of what they can manage and what inspires them. Krista has helped thousands of other moms transform chaotic homes into an abode of peace and calm with doable tips and mindset. One doesn't have to be a full-blown minimalist to get the house, life, and kids organized.
✔️ You don't need a better schedule, routine, or chore chart – you just really need LESS stuff. You can't organize your way in a home that is too full. Having so much stuff around gets us frustrated, angry, or intolerant in the day-to-day, but having enough to meet our needs and desires is what prevents overwhelm.
✔️ The whole point of decluttering is to feel better and more alive. Every item you possess requires paying attention to how it feels and always seeking to answer the question if it brings you joy moving forward.
✔️ Teach kids to declutter. Are you having a difficult time teaching the little ones how to stop hoarding so much stuff and managing clutter at home? Krista teaches setting physical boundaries around their things and toys and including children in the decluttering and accumulating process.
✔️ Krista shares these practical questions to guide you when organizing your things as you start your decluttering journey:
Do you still enjoy them?
Do you remember where you got them?
Do you remember why you had them?
How can you make room for the things that you still love and the things that you still want?
You don't have to become an expert in decluttering your life. Start slowly by letting go of things that overwhelm you and making space for flow and ease to come.
✔️ We learn how to freely give away, but we also learn how to freely receive. The act of decluttering embodies a spiritual principle I teach people to keep the flow going in their lives — it's the willingness to give up things we value to help others in need. Generosity and selflessness prepare the cheerful giver to be blessed more.
Krista Lockwood teaches decluttering for moms who don't want to be full-blown minimalists. She will teach you how to have enough stuff without it becoming overwhelming so that you have more bandwidth to do the things you truly need and want.

Daughters Raised By Narcissistic Fathers
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
Tuesday Aug 16, 2022
Little girls raised by self-centered, angry fathers become women with big wounds that are not easy to heal. Narcissistic abuse impacts us in ways that many people want to pretend are not as real as it is.
This episode has a lot of emotion that I am disclosing to my audience. Like me, did you go through life carrying the trauma of a narcissist for a father?
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ Daughters of narcissistic dads are deeply wounded. Reflecting on my journey to get where I am, I've had severe depression and unrelenting emotional trauma. The damage that happened to me is continually happening to girls developing wounds deep to the DNA.
✔️ Validate your own experience and emotions. I have many memories of sitting across the table from my dad, him being happy and talking — suddenly throwing venomous attacks at me —telling me how wrong or bad I was. It went on until I got to junior high school, when I totally shut down from everyone. As a daughter, my life has been affected forever.
Until I decided I no longer wanted to be held an emotional hostage. That I will stop focusing on being the victim. That I will choose the path of higher understanding. Only then have I sought freedom.
✔️ Pursue your healing. We won't stay as damaged little girls when we heal with our tears, work, and willingness to evolve through it all. Like a shining Phoenix rising out of the fire, we come out golden, radiant, and amazing humans who can consciously choose to take what was meant for harm for GOOD. We must be willing to do the work because nobody else can do it for us.
✔️ From victim to victor. Being a SURVIVOR means: "I'm a victim, and I choose a higher understanding that for every painful and great loss in my life, there's a benefit that can come out of it if I'm open to seeing it."
I invite you to be honest: If you've been wounded, stop wearing it on your chest as a badge of honor. Being a victim is not your identity. Become a survivor.
✔️ For the last 40+ years, I've been freeing myself from the trance and bondage of all the narcissism I was raised in. So many women in the world are still in an emotional prison built by the dysfunction of the adults raising them — they forget that what matters most is their decision to work on themselves. Endless couch and coaching sessions will not work if you don't actually take action to resolve them. I've done 50+ modalities (and more) to clear my energy and heal my mind from believing I am unworthy.

Awaken the Heart of the Gifted With Dianne A. Allen & Jared DuPree
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
Tuesday Aug 09, 2022
There could be less pain and suffering for gifted people if they only knew how to make their hearts and minds work together.
Former clinician, professor, and founder of WholeHEART Awakening, Jared DuPree, teaches that all healing roots from the HEART and encompasses the physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual aspects of ourselves.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me ▶️ Awaken the Heart of the Gifted with Jared DuPree.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ It took 15 years of traditional practice as a counselor before Jared achieved a breakthrough that shifted his spirit. After gathering new learnings from ancient arts and various methods around the world, he unraveled a wealth of ways to heal holistically.
✔️ Gifted people tend to play small. They live life trying to accommodate
everyone around them. They don't want to ruffle feathers. They don't want to be branded as "too out there." If you share these beliefs with yourself — know that there will always be those who will get triggered just because of who you are. And that's okay. You can't play small or pretend to become who you are not. Share your gifts because that's the part you must play to make this world better.
✔️ There's a reason people say 'Go with your gut' or 'follow your heart' for thousands of years. We call it a hunch, instinctual reaction, or gut feeling — many terms describe the ability to navigate life without just relying on the "knowing" of the mind.
Science and spirituality experts refer to this as the ability to understand things and figure out solutions without depending only on intellect. When one achieves awakening, a big part is letting go of giving so much power to reasoning and strengthening trust in your gut.
✔️ Body awareness will become your best compass. The mind can lie, but the body doesn't. Learn how to sink into your body and pay attention to yourself. You can trust that what you're feeling are signs to help you take the right path. Many esoteric resources share how certain pressure in different parts, whether in the heart, knee, stomach, throat, or head actually holds significant meanings that direct you on the path of healing and happiness.
✔️ Stay in alignment and integrity from your heart space and allow the universe to maneuver around you. You can't put off your happiness until you get to the day when the perfect habits, skills, relationships, income, and ideal life arrives. Recognize you're good where you are NOW and trust your heart will take you to the right places at the right time.
Jared DuPree PhD, MBA
Jared began his work as a traditional counselor earning a PhD in Couples & Sex Therapy specializing in intimacy, connection, and trust. After 15 years of practice as a clinician and working as a professor, he felt a shift occurring that led to his own spiritual awakening. Since then, he has gathered tools and methods throughout the world to understand how to heal and awaken layer upon layer. How To Build Resilience With Dianne A. Allen

We define "resilience" as the ability to come back to life and bounce back after a hardship or long periods of difficulty. It is the capacity to regain footing after getting massive blows.
All of us have gone through these times. How we integrate and deal with those things is different for every person based on their giftedness, overexcitabilities, autobiography, sensitivities, and so many factors.
In this episode, we talk about building more resiliency, moving forward, and evolving in a way that best serves us.
Key point covered in this episode:
✔️ Create a life of interdependence. In a world where we are expected to do so much grinding and pushing, we are culturally adamant about receiving. Allow yourself to make that internal change and get in the position of being vulnerable, and accept help and support from others. Try it and see how you can get more of the good stuff coming into your life!
✔️ Cultivate radical self-care. Check in and assess: are you deeply caring about your physical body, mental health, emotional health, spiritual health, and social connections? We must become good stewards of ourselves. Now, that doesn't mean being selfish but consistently working on giving attention and importance to our being before we can go out and become for others.
✔️ Honor the essence of all beings. This means learning how to appreciate and have reverence for who we are and what we're about. That doesn't mean you never make any mistakes or are expected to be perfect. Even for the people we disagree with, we can still have respect for them despite their opposing beliefs and choices.
✔️ Create meaning in every situation. When we set out in the morning to create intentions for the day: we ask, "What meaning can I create?"
This approach to life ushers hope, gratitude, and joy into our daily experiences. It nurtures the connection of the "I" to others and the greater universe to be strong, beautiful, and real.
✔️ Give yourself permission to enjoy life. In truth, joy is our natural state of being. We expend so much energy going down the dark path of negativity. Pain and struggles are part of the great tapestry of the human experience. Yet even when things may not always be good, permit yourself to enjoy life fully in all its depth and richness.
✔️ Gratitude helps you build character. When we're grateful, we're freer to give and care for others. We can have gratitude in the face of adversity or when things don't feel good. Saying "Thank you" in your mind at every moment posies you to be more generous with your emotions, ideas, and energy. You can smile, hold the door for somebody, and tell them to have a good day.
✔️ Connect with multiple peer groups. We all are so multifaceted that it takes various people to feed our souls and emotions and help us be resilient in the world. I have peer groups for my spiritual, professional, social, and creative worlds. I have my vacation friends where I can be and relax. I am supported by many friends that meet my needs, so I'm not going to an empty well for water.
✔️ There is a growing requirement for all of us to actively and intentionally build our resilience muscles. As we develop our inner resources individually, we can be a collective beneficial presence that stands in our sovereignty as authentic, aligned beings full of integrity. We are here in this world to do just that. Let's start by building confidence in ourselves and trusting ourselves a little bit more.
