Loneliness Cure
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Loneliness plagues the gifted and twice-exceptional — the people who don't live in the boxes of life, which is most of us, right? This often results in becoming addicted to alcohol, drugs, food and all kinds of stuff.
In this episode, I want to talk about how to cure that loneliness, fix that disconnection, and remedy that part of our yearning for something more. Look at five significant areas in your life to see the overarching picture and help you understand simple, easy and manageable ways to start filling up holes that need to be filled. It's time to realize that your loneliness is an inside situation.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —Loneliness Cure with Dianne A Allen. ▶️
✔️ #1 Mental Clarity. Our belief systems, attitudes about things and what we say to ourselves matters. Our brain believes in our own voice above all others. If you often say, "Oh, I'm not good enough, nobody likes me, or they'll never understand me, and say it over and over, you will create that experience.
✔️ #2 Physical Motion. Develop a sense of physical ease by taking better care of yourself and pursuing movement. Doing so allows you to get comfortable in your own skin. Great things to do for this are Taichi, Qigong or Yoga. Be in your body and not just in your head.
✔️ #3 Emotional Freedom. Emotion is the energy source that tells us we're alive. We feel excitement and fear that are the same biochemically. The difference is in our minds. So what are we doing with the energy source that tells us we're alive? Are we allowing our energy to flow and be kind and compassionate? Or are we withholding things?
✔️ #4 Spiritual Assurance. You are totally perfect as you are. Connect to your calling and how you are meant to be in the world. The more you live that with integrity, the easier it is to cure that loneliness because you'll draw other people to you with that energy of yours that will be attracted to that part of you.
✔️ #5 Social Connections. We need people in our corner that get us. The ones that understand who we are and how we operate. Like musicians need to talk about rhythm and melody, artists discuss perspectives and colors and hues, writers who express with words -- we need to have the people in our world who understand our language. We should have multiple peer groups that feed different parts of ourselves.

Women in Technology with Sarah Freeman
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Tuesday Jan 25, 2022
Today, we see more women play the roles that men once highly dominated, particularly in the technology space. Our community is becoming more accepting and naturally moving in that direction. However, inequality is still prevalent and requires more focus and effort to address.
Business technology consultant Sarah Freeman saw gaps in the industry regarding women and minorities. She made it her life's purpose to alleviate the conditions and create solutions through her work and nonprofit passion projects. It is possible to profit with perfect purpose and address the digital divide with the power of being female.
Tune in to this episode of Someone Gets Me — Women in Technology with Sarah Freeman ▶️
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️Sarah celebrates her 17th year in a career in technology. She recalls why it's such a blessing that she followed her instinct pursuing her love of computers instead of following her family's advice to go into sales.
✔️ Even as the number of women going into technology is on the rise, it still isn't easy. Sarah helps women get into the field and get over that stigma.
✔️Sarah's partnerships with various nonprofits in the Phoenix area have allowed her to deliver computers directly to students in need. She also volunteers at Warriors Code as a side project, helping minorities receive tech certifications.
✔️ Implementing a woman's intuition would mean making conversations with suppliers, tech people and network engineers that sometimes would receive blank stares. Today she talks about how spirituality and manifestation are at the forefront of society with increased interest from men.
✔️ Intuition is not what many people think; it is not all woo-woo. It is the highest form of intelligence. And when you combine it with trust, openness, and awareness — verifying and confirming what you're getting, then it becomes a total game-changer.
✔️ There is genius in inclusion. Unless organizations fully realize that valuing diversity and prioritizing people and their differences must be adapted as a culture, we cannot achieve our fullest potential as a nation and as citizens of the world.
Sarah Freeman is a technology advisor and the CEO of Attollo Technology. Her mission is to elevate industry expectations in regard to how businesses approach their technology needs. As a former Vice President of a technology trade association, she saw a gap in the industry regarding women and minorities. Her partnerships with various nonprofits in the Phoenix area have allowed her to deliver computers directly to students in need. She volunteers at Warriors Code as a side project, helping minorities receive tech certifications.

The Struggles of Highly Intelligent People with Dianne A. Allen
Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Tuesday Jan 18, 2022
Yes, there are REAL struggles that come with being intelligent. Whether they’re called gifted, geeky, or smarty pants, it isn’t always easy for intelligent people to navigate the world. It’s tricky for intelligent people to realize how beautiful they are, but not impossible. And once they do understand how special they are, that realization often takes them to new and amazing places they couldn’t have imagined before.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —The Struggles of Highly Intelligent People with Dianne A. Allen ▶️
✔️ Intelligent people are often chastised for simply being who they are. There is a general perception that different is wrong. Instead of chastising or criticizing people for being different, we should embrace our unique differences in order to create a better world for everyone.
✔️ Trying to “be normal” isn’t going to work. There’s no point in trying to be “normal” when being “normal” is subjective to every person. Your normal might be someone else’s version of eccentric. Focus on being yourself and accepting people as they are.
✔️ Misunderstandings happen, but they don’t have to define you. Sometimes intelligent people miss social cues that lead to misunderstandings with other people. It takes work, but they can learn and get better at handling those situations in the future with practice.
✔️ The struggles of intelligent people can lead to unexpected breakthroughs. It might take a while for intelligent people to realize who and what they are, but the struggles and hardships experienced along that journey can be used for good, and may even lead to some of their greatest successes.

The Effects of Sound Healing on the Intense Sensitivities with Rosie Warburton
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Tuesday Jan 11, 2022
Instruments and tools for sound healing can help regulate and soothe a very sensitive nervous system like mine and yours. In this episode, my friend Rosie Warburton teaches all about sound and how it helps maintain the balance of vibration and energy of the mind and body.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —The Effects of Sound Healing on the Intense Sensitivities with Rosie Warburton ▶️
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Rosie shares her origin story. Being so hypersensitive to sound as a kid, she upset her nervous system and had meltdowns because she couldn't handle sound or loud noises in general. "It's really interesting to me that that's what became my gift of being able to offer sound as a healing modality. It's also what has allowed me to be able to attune to other people who are extremely sensitive, whether it's on the physical, auditory and emotional levels."
✔️ Sound waves affect our whole bioenergetic system. It moves on the physical level. Even though one can no longer hear it with the ears, many are unaware that those vibrations continue to progress and affect the brain on an energetic level.
✔️ The body is like a symphony orchestra. Everything in the physical world is resonating, and everything is vibrating — even our body. Therefore, the bones, the nerves, the blood, the organs and their different components all have particular frequencies.
✔️ Helping others heal is like playing the gong. To bring the best, fullest sound out of the gong is by approaching it really slowly, gently and allowing that sound to emerge. For Rosie, it's very much the same as her approach to doing hands-on healing work. A sound healer and licensed massage therapist, she starts encouraging things with sound, touch, and intention to help people relax and let go with a sense of safety.
✔️ Brain tuners are very effective tools. Commit to creating an environment when your right and left hemispheres of the brain get balanced. Instruments like tuning forks that can make very specific frequencies are simple tools that are incredibly effective in helping lower your cortisol levels and balance serotonin and melatonin.
————————————————————————————————
Rosie Warburton is an international sound healing practitioner, educator and Licensed Massage Therapist. She has been immersed in the exploration of healing with sound, music and frequency for the past 25 years. Rosie is an advanced practitioner and pioneer in the field of VibroAcoustic Sound Therapy.
As a sound healing practitioner, she has studied vocal toning, overtone singing, mantra, chanting and kirtan, drum therapy, healing with Pythagorean tuning forks and many forms of vibrational healing, including Qi Gong, Reiki and Quantum Touch.
From 2005- 2012 she owned and operated the Sound Body Wholistic Health Center in St. Petersburg, Florida, a wellness center dedicated to the study and practice of sound as a healing modality. She is an approved continuing education provider to massage therapists in Florida and has taught hundreds of therapists how they can integrate sound into their personal and professional practice.

The Curse of Being Gifted with Dianne A. Allen
Tuesday Jan 04, 2022
Tuesday Jan 04, 2022
Being gifted feels like a curse and a blessing. How do we NOT walk around discouraged, demoralized, upset and depressed for being GIFTED? By first accepting that yes, we are indeed different and second, by knowing that how we are made is remarkable and holds a contribution to the world.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —The Curse of Being Gifted with Dianne A. Allen ▶️
✔️ Over-excitabilities because of our eccentricities are what other people consider a disability and a bane, and we adopt them. It's time we challenge that lie and accept that being gifted is a different and beautiful experience.
✔️ It's a blessing to be a gifted, quirky, geeky person in the 2% of the world population. See yourself as this beautiful, dynamic, ever-fluid gift and blessing to yourself and everyone else.
✔️ What you're calling a curse is a gift turned up loud. Being gifted means possessing the difference from neurotypical people who watch a three-inch black and white TV while we're in a 3D surround sound, fully immersive experience.
The volume, colors and experience are different, and it's beautiful. And if somebody has taught you that it's a curse or you feel misunderstood, look again and see the blessing and know that you have control over all that.
✔️ You are never alone. I invite you to seek other gifted people, discover multiple peer groups, work to find different ways to connect and then you'll see very quickly that what you possess is truly a gift and a blessing.

✔️ Create new rules. Understand the spirit of laws. Know how to dance in the chaos. According to Michelle, this can be your beautiful experience when you finally accept who you are. "I follow my heart, which for me is sometimes more important than my gut. That's the daydream. Not only is it more fun, but you literally get to write the rules."

Figment of my Imagination With Dianne A. Allen
Tuesday Dec 21, 2021
Tuesday Dec 21, 2021
It was back in the 80s when we went to see Figment. I was really depressed, but nobody knew it for a gifted and twice-exceptional child. I was very good at playing and looking like I was doing great all the time. I was successful in school, making excellent grades and racing sailboats. I was friendly and did all kinds of things. But secretly inside, I didn't think I should be alive anymore.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —Figment of my Imagination with Dianne A. Allen ▶️
✔️ It was Figment, his song, and his ride that ultimately changed the trajectory of my life. A famous Disney character not many of todays' generation have heard of leaves his music from Journey Into Imagination called "One Little Spark" that lends so much hope and inspiration.
..."One spark of light,
Can light your fancy.
Your mind sees more,
Then what your eyes see.
Your sense of sight can make your fancy fly,
There's more to sight than meets the eye."
✔️ One little spark from a little purple dragon gave me hope to live.
I bring Figment with me everywhere I go. He reminds me that life is worth living and that there is always more. Being gifted with many overexcitabilities and being intuitive and an empath can be a messy and tricky road. I didn't even have any of those words to describe my life back then; I'm grateful for Figment and the ones who wrote that catchy song that changed my life.
✔️ In my work of leading other people toward their vision, it brings tears to my eyes to think how I was able to get here—the power of that one little spark in my childhood that changed everything.
Remember that the figment in your imagination is beautiful and amazing, and it can save you and anyone from angst, depression or anxiety. I am forever grateful to whoever wrote that song, for the purple dragon Figment and to my God and creator for bringing that answered prayer that I didn't even know I had because I'm alive today and working as a beneficial presence on the planet.

Unfortunately, nobody can police our thoughts other than ourselves. We tend to forget that we can get to a better situation by changing our mindset.

Lonely Around the Holidays with Dianne A. Allen
Tuesday Dec 07, 2021
Tuesday Dec 07, 2021
Do you feel the need to "just get through the holidays" and think that there's a necessity to participate in traditions with people who are your so-called family and friends? We have all these beliefs that we should get through it sacrificing our peace and wellness for a few moments in a year. Marketing tactics have done that to us over the years, and let me tell you; it's not right.
In this episode, understand why you don't have to go through traditions that wear you out and learn how to overcome loneliness in a supposedly magical time of the year.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Tip 1: Make your personal holiday tradition. Make a relevant tradition that will help ground you as you grow through the years to come. Whether you can be with other people or not, follow an activity that is meaningful for you.
✔️ Tip 2: Create a protected and dedicated time to connect with you. You can't be interrupted during that moment. Honor your feeling of loss and pain and feel lonely.
✔️ Tip 3: Create laughter! Whether it's laughter yoga, a funny movie or anything that's just fun for you -- do that. Permit yourself to laugh because this helps your brain. It reminds us there's more to life than our loneliness or our pain, or our grief. There is much more.
✔️ Tip 4: Look for the good. Find meaningful ways to experience what matters. What is happening that can serve you? Ask where is the good within loneliness? Where is the light within the darkness? Where is the nugget of joy? Be willing to look for it.
✔️ Tip 5: Reach out and connect with other people, even people you don't yet know. Volunteer and offer your time in places where you are needed. Even with online platforms, you can connect with people and serve. When you are in a position of service for a group of people, it is easy to help that lonely part of you to calm down and not be so active. You have a right to feel your feelings, but you also have the responsibility not to allow them to run your show.

Neurodiversity in Everyday Life with Brent Sopel
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Tuesday Nov 30, 2021
Unaware of clinically having Dyslexia, former professional hockey player Brent Sopel discovered his disability at age 32. In this inspiring episode, Brent shares what the real struggles looked like, contrary to what many people understand them and why it's essential to talk about this handicap to help young people who are undiagnosed and misunderstood.
Join me in this episode of Someone Gets Me —Neurodiversity in Everyday Life with Brent Sopel ▶️
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Many adults that are gifted and neurodiverse don't find out about their own situation until their children get diagnosed. Such is the case with Brent Sopel. He profoundly understands the struggles of people living with dyslexia who have to deal with reduced career opportunities, social isolation, and lower satisfaction in all areas of life.
✔️ Hockey saved Brent in many ways. It didn't only serve as a job but also as a self-esteem booster. As a visual and physical sport, hockey fits into Brent's natural abilities without all the reading and writing struggle experienced in school all day long.
✔️ Have an extra empathy chip. Many people with dyslexia continue to suffer from a lack of understanding and support. People need to understand the disability and be more aware as suicides have tripled in the last ten years, with an intense 90% of suicide notes left by a person with dyslexia.
✔️ Early diagnosis of Dyslexia and the early understanding of what turns it into a gift. Dyslexia is positively correlated with intelligence; even though there's a misnomer, people might feel bad about themselves.
✔️ By starting the Brent Sopel Foundation, his mission is to provide financial and educational support and early detection and intervention that people with dyslexia deserve.
✔️ Don't ever ask, "Why me?" Whatever that pain is, it's gotten you here today. Brent has this to say to everyone going through dyslexia. "You're not alone. No matter what you are going through, your battles -- know that we all go through things. But we can go through it together."
