Joy and Deep Inner Connection with Deana Martin
Tuesday Jul 06, 2021
Tuesday Jul 06, 2021
In this week's episode, I am thrilled to share the screen and engage in an epic conversation with Deana Martin –– daughter of legendary singer, actor, and entertainer Dean Martin – who has forged an inspiring path as a visionary artist in her own right. In addition to her many musical successes, she is a New York Times bestselling author, a gifted actor, a vocalist of incredible emotional depth and passion, and a licensed pilot.
Tune in and learn the secrets of how she stays young, loves life more in her golden years, the exciting things she learned from her father, the "King of Cool" Dean Martin, and the legacy she continues to build with joy and connection to the world with her music.
Essential points covered in this episode:
✔️ Learn how at 72, Deana is teeming with amazing energy! "It's in my DNA because my dad was like that, my brothers and sisters, we all have a thirst for life. So first of all, I'm happy that I can wake up every day. And once that happens, the first thing I think about is what else I can do today? What new things can I learn?"
✔️ Understand the value of having a growth mindset no matter your age. Discover how Deana, as a multipotentialite, shares that she also became an aerobics instructor because she wanted to stay fit on top of her busy life as a performer.
✔️ Lean into the lessons Dean Martin taught her daughter to live with respect, discipline, hard work, and never cutting corners. "My dad would never pick up the phone and call people and say, put Deana in your movie. That's not something he would say. Instead, he tells me, 'go down and read for the film if you make it — good. If you don't, it's too bad but try again."
✔️ How Deana's music continues to bring joy and connection to the world is truly priceless. Years of playing up to 280 dates per year, her audiences still can't get enough. Due to the pandemic, Deana reaches out to her fans through her live video performances.
✔️ As a performer, she cherishes the energy exchange with a live audience. "When we're making the music, it's always different, and it's live, and you hear the response from people. It's like there's this one big happy family behind you. And even though they may have not had a great day, the music brings us together. We make people feel good and make them cry because the music touches the soul."

HAVE YOU ALWAYS FELT MISUNDERSTOOD?
In this value-packed episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A Allen shares the screen with a business coach and podcaster, Christine McAlister. She tells her journey of being misunderstood since childhood, shamed for being a leader, navigating self-doubt, and fearing living an inauthentic life.

Essential points covered in this episode:
✔️ Remind yourself that you always have a choice. At every moment, you have an option to change the story. Listen to Christine's heart-rending account of having multiple miscarriages and finding the gift of helping other people make sense of their hurts and rebuilding their lives.

How to Prevent Burnout with Spencer Burnett
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Tuesday Jun 22, 2021
Are you overwhelmed by all the different elements of life? Like many gifted people, do you experience high highs and then the depths of the lows where your entire world is crashing, and it seems like you're never going to get out of it?
In this value-packed episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A Allen sits in with lifestyle and performance coach Spencer Burnett to talk about how to manage energy and achieve simple ways of rewiring the mind to achieve clarity and focus for visionaries, entrepreneurs, and serial creators.
Essential points covered in this episode:
✔️ Overwhelmed, feeling late, feeling behind, feeling like there are a thousand things to do and only time to do three? These are results of a poor relationship with time which then causes your integrity to be off.
✔️ When you build a better relationship with time and commitment, it becomes much easier for you to maintain your integrity, which is how you behave and why you execute as intended.
✔️ Understand why your day becomes a series of mini failures of where you didn't take action precisely the way you intended to, and that starts weighing on you emotionally—plan for the expected, not for the ideal.
✔️ Anticipate your distractions, the external and mostly the internal.
✔️ If you desire to create something, remember that the mind is thinking duration, path, and outcome. Until you answer those three questions, the brain will continue to obsess about it until it gets an answer to those things.
✔️ The lack of building that self-trust prevents you from taking action and figuring out the next step.
✔️ Learn how to start with the outcome and then reverse-engineer the path to your big, hairy, audacious goals. Creating your mini visions leads you to achieve completing goals and overcoming overwhelm.
✔️ Why "void language" puts you at a standstill and leaves you stuck.
✔️ Know how to interact with your monsters or demons or dark forces. AS you journey down the road of life, consider them as turning signals and not blocks.
✔️ When you can truly surrender to death, you can surrender to any outcome. In the end, you see what matters and what isn't worth stressing over. Discernment becomes clearer when you think you have your toes up to that line.
Spencer Burnett is a high-performance mind mechanic who specializes in helping entrepreneurs rewire their mindset. He helps them align their actions to support their goals and vision through mindset strategy, organization, and spiritual enlightenment. He has been an entrepreneur and coach for the past 21 years across multiple industries.

Taboo Topics for Gifted Parents with Dr. Julia Hodgson
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Tuesday Jun 15, 2021
Parenting is a different journey for everyone because there is no one-size-fits-all instruction manual. Parents have the constant feeling of having no clue about what they're doing and being afraid that they will screw up their kids in the process.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen engages in an important conversation with Dr. Julia Hodgson, a psychologist, and educator advocating to normalize discussions about taboo topics on pregnancy and parenting and why taking care of yourself is just as essential as the child or children.
Essential points covered in this episode:
✔️ Understand why the insecurities of being an imperfect parent can have an impact on your child. It doesn't have to be a shameful thing about your capabilities as a parent as other people are going through similar struggles.
✔️In her upcoming book, "Pregnancy Confidential," Julia talks about the parenting secrets and taboos that nobody tells you about. She aims to help moms and dads navigate the child-rearing journey from her professional and very personal experience.
✔️ Keenly listen to your child and do not get too fixated on the "rules" and guidelines expected on how to raise them. Balance the structure with expectations instead of forcing kids to do something that is not working for them.
✔️Learn to acknowledge that it's okay to have ideals and expectations of how a perfect kid or family should be, but you don't have to beat yourself for it.
✔️ Being open and honest instead of hiding truths will not shield and protect our children. Be honest and communicate to them at a level that kids can understand.
✔️ Why the taboo about postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD psychosis, and the fact that mental health disorders continue to harm families because it is not talked about enough and suffering were not intervened and helped out.
✔️ Know that you are doing something difficult yet powerful when you ask for help. A parent, especially a mom, is a superhero doing incredible things, but you are not superhuman.
✔️ Many parents go through difficult times, and it can be tricky and problematic. That doesn't mean you're wrong. Others have the same experience as you.
✔️ Set a foundation by letting children know that possibilities in life aren't limited by gender by being in the language that you use when speaking to them.
✔️ Teach children that it's good to need help from others. It means you're connected, and it means you're growing and you're expanding. And that's the goal.
About Dr. Julia Hodgson
Dr. Julia Hodgson is a psychologist, writer, and lifelong learner and educator. She serves as the Director of Addiction Psychology at AIDS Care Group and is co-founder of The Neurodiversity Collective.
Dr. Hodgson has a Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and a Masters of Education in Human Sexuality, both of which she uses to serve her passion for working with marginalized and misunderstood communities. She has specialized in working with people who are pregnant and parenting, acting as an advocate for normalizing discussions about taboo topics and providing support for caregivers. Her most important credential is that she is a mom to a three and one year old, who happily serve as the greatest teachers about parenting she can find.

Creating A Lasting Personal Legacy
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
Tuesday Jun 08, 2021
Are you thinking seven generations from now? Are you thinking in the long term, which isn't just the five years and ten years from now? Whether you believe it or not, spiritually or scientifically, everything we do affects everything. The energy we put into the world, our emotions, everything affects the world.
How do you look at your legacy? It's time to be intentional, to keep moving forward, to keep doing the things that serve the greater good, and to instill hope in ourselves and others because of our actions.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen shares the five steps to start living with intention and creating your lasting personal legacy.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Start every day by completing something important as early in the morning as you possibly can. Taking a shower or fixing your bed in the mornings are little tasks that help big in pushing away analysis-paralysis, procrastination, overwhelm and fear. Wake up seven days a week, and that's the first thing you do. Because when you do that and already have something completed for the day, it's impossible to have a failed day.
✔️ Respect all sentient beings. Whether it's that little chipmunk or the big tree in your backyard, the neighbor's cat, or humans you disagree with — send them good energies and lots of love.
✔️ Find people to go through life with. Who do you respect? Who do you admire? Who mentors you? Who are you mentoring? Demonstrate respect for others by having other people going through life biologically and neurologically.
✔️Take risks and step out of your comfort zone, especially when it's tough. When things are hard like this pandemic and things are happening, keep going and step out of your comfort zone. Meet someone new, do something for another person, take a risk that gets you toward where you say you want to go.
✔️ Stand up to the bullies, the sharks, and the piggybacks and use your voice to benefit those whose voices have been silenced. Look for places and people to serve and stand for without expecting anything in return. Because when you have bullies around, or you have people taking advantage, it creates a lot of discord. Do your part to lessen those that inflict pain physically or emotionally on other people.
✔️ Understand that life isn't always fair, and we're all going to fail at stuff and mess up. Having a beginner's mind is good, and I think that it's worth starting ugly. It's OK. Do it, go after it, and do your very best.
✔️ When you second guess and put self-doubt in there, you are separating yourself from your legacy. You're getting in your way. When you have momentum, take action, you may mess something up, but you can rebuild with new understanding, new happiness, and a new focus.

Conscious Business is Good Business with Anna Choi
Tuesday Jun 01, 2021
Tuesday Jun 01, 2021
Now more than ever, the pandemic made us recognize the importance of creating, if not supporting, the conscious business movement. The awareness is increasing to adjust our lifestyles to accommodate social and environmental practices that will have a ripple effect on the next generation of our people and planet.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen sits in and engages in an insightful conversation with Anna Choi, a conscious business coach, and an all-around amazing woman.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Follow Anna Choi's story of transformation from an ignorant suburbanite into helping empower high achieving, six-figure conscious entrepreneurs to master their energy while growing their business with balance--not burnout.
✔️ Observe how this health crisis created a significant shift in global consciousness. A greater need arises to find a new way of operating in the world, with people transitioning to pursue a life going inwards and no longer about just the hustle and grind.
✔️ Looking to the future as we see faster and more disruptive technological developments, it is necessary to find ways to slow down, stay grounded, and stay conscious.
✔️ Being a good consumer allows you to pay attention to what aligns with your inner integrity. Support companies that align with your values and vote with your dollar on people and products that create conscious choices.
✔️ Learn why you should release from the old paradigm to keep learning things the hard way — you can have greatness, goodness, and consciousness without so much difficulty.
✔️ Grow your consciousness on a micro-level by learning Anna's morning and bedtime rituals and personal time practices she calls "dates with the soul" as a daily default to get high vibes before responding to challenges of the day.
✔️ Learn these exercises to master your energy and reach an optimum state of performance. You can improve your body's natural circulation where your kidneys can cool off your brain (allows you to have a cool head), and then you could feel your belly getting warm.
✔️ Understand the concept of valuing your fear rather than something to avoid, fix or fight.
✔️ Lean in and be reminded of the whole process of being very conscious of what goes into your body and how this impacts who you get to be mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
✔️ Access Anna's tips on balancing being a homeschooling mom and running a creative conscious business, and growing and evolving yourself.

How to Overcome Overwhelm and Mental Limitations with Jason Forrest
Tuesday May 25, 2021
Tuesday May 25, 2021
What would it mean for you when you reach ALL your goals? What are the bigger OUTCOMES that your heart truly desires? What's keeping you STUCK and OVERWHELMED and stops you from accomplishing your real PURPOSE?
We will help you answer these crucial questions in this new episode of Someone Gets Me. Dianne A. Allen hosts another power-packed conversation with behavioral change expert and award-winning sales motivational speaker Jason Forrest.
Deep dive into the important lessons for you to finally drop those limitations instead of buying into the subconscious rules that restrict massive growth to happen in your life and business.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Growing up in a home where both parents are big on personal development training, Jason Forrest learned, adapted, and applied passed on philosophies that made his life better at an earlier age. He made it his purpose to understand and help many others who have the opposite circumstance and greatly struggle to be successful, to be rich, and accomplish life goals.
✔️ People who procrastinate fail to answer the WHY that outweighs the sacrifice required in achieving their dreams. Get clear on your goals and the outcomes you desire. A goal can be "buying a new house." Compared to thinking of the result: "I want a more stable environment for my family."
✔️ Learn to identify your "leash" — what sort of story, self-image, reluctance, or rules prevent you from taking action? You can't grow if you cannot free yourself from the bondage of specific things you don't even realize you're in bondage to.
✔️ Assess hidden, buried, or suppressed thoughts and emotions and the new things arising in you. Identify what's good and what's bad about it and go through that process to allow yourself to grow, and something beautiful may be trying to emerge.
✔️ Dig deep into Jason's latest book, "The Mindset of a Sales Warrior," where he teaches proven strategies to overcome mental issues, the negative stories, and reluctance due to self-imposed rules.
✔️ Practice the exercise of identifying the quality of your life by the number of rules that you have. Access a free download of the app "Wheel of Life" and see plenty of other free PDFs; access your areas of happiness regarding health, family, financials, faith, and all the different things.
✔️ Know that there is hope for you to get unstuck. It's time to stop sitting there fretting how to get even the first little tiny bit of momentum going in your life. Raise your hand and ask for help.
✔️ Even as a successful entrepreneur and a million-dollar professional speaker, understand why Jason spends 30 percent of his annual income on personal development every year.
✔️ Accountability is so critical for your success. Find somebody who will walk the path with you. People get into that trap of thinking, "I have to do it alone" and "I can figure it out myself." Understand that you can't read a label from inside the jar. You have got to have another human being engaged with you on some level to support the growth from which point you are starting.

Tuesday May 18, 2021
Tuesday May 18, 2021
Are you finding yourself more stressed or overwhelmed lately? With the pandemic continually changing our lives and the rest of the world, it is vital to find a way to deal with it so we don't get trapped in unhealthy behaviors.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen hosts a valuable discussion on how to deal with change using art and creativity with Renate van Nijen, a successful Dutch artist, art teacher, and published writer living in Spain.
Key points covered in this episode:
✔️ Renate van Nijen has always loved drawing and doodling from a young age but was discouraged later in life because "being an artist doesn't make you money."
✔️ Working as an unhappy secretary for some years and getting depressed brought Renate to a series of life's twists and turns until she finally pursued painting and writing as a career.
✔️ If you keep saying "yes" to the scary, uncomfortable things — the right things will happen at the right time. Such is Renate's mindset; she is now living her dream life by trying new things when she felt she wasn't ready, capable, or talented enough.
✔️ Know how ART Therapy can benefit you. If you find yourself more stressed than usual, art will help you explore and cope with overwhelming emotions, develop self-awareness, and boost self-esteem.
✔️ Painting will help you keep your sanity, and so does writing. Renate published her first book in 2010 and has since written eight. She tells stories with her painting and paints pictures with her stories.
✔️ Understand that we are all gifted with the ability to express ourselves creatively. Learn Renate van Nijen's tips on getting started in your painting journey, techniques on overcoming blocks in your creativity, how to let go of perfectionism and get in touch with who you are and what you like.
