When Things Don't Happen the Way You Want
Tuesday Feb 17, 2026
Tuesday Feb 17, 2026
Allow yourself to ride the waves of life and emotion, and receive the goodness that’s coming. You are capable of success.
In today’s episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen explores what to do when life doesn’t unfold the way we expected, especially for intensely sensitive and neurodivergent leaders. She speaks to the emotional waves that follow disappointment and how we can move through them without losing ourselves.
Dianne unpacks the hard truth behind self-blame, why receiving support is part of healthy leadership, and how clinging to beliefs that no longer serve us quietly creates more suffering. Because when we soften, allow support, and release outdated narratives, we make space for growth, resilience, and real success.

Everybody has a story. We’re not better or less, just different by design.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen reflects on how our lives are shaped by the stories we carry and the meaning we make from them. Each story matters because we influence one another simply by being who we are. Our experiences shape our trajectory, and our stories are meant to unfold with purpose, depth, and intention.

The Hidden Cost of Masking
Tuesday Feb 03, 2026
Tuesday Feb 03, 2026
Your definition of normal may look different from someone else’s, and that’s exactly where your truth lives.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen sits down with Sandy Bean for an honest conversation about masking, its hidden costs, and how many gifted and neurodivergent people may already be paying the price without realizing it. Sandy also shares how growing up as a gifted child shaped her passion for advocating for gifted and twice-exceptional children beyond academic performance.
She also offers tips on navigating grief and overwhelm, explains how radical acceptance can transform the journey, and thoughtfully explores why masking can sometimes be necessary in social settings, even as we learn when and how to lay it down.

The most important rule: always ask before doing something for someone.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen shares how neurodivergent and gifted people can be present and hold a truly safe space without absorbing other people’s energy. She explains how to show up with dignity and kindness while still honoring your own limits.
Dianne unpacks how the body pays a physical price for absorbed energy, why doing things for someone can unintentionally lower their self-esteem, and how overstepping—even with good intentions—can cross important boundaries.
It’s not noble to carry the weight of everyone else’s pain. When you respect your inner boundaries and stand in your agency, you create healthier connections for yourself and for others.

Have you ever wanted support, only to minimize it the moment it’s offered?
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen unpacks why gifted adults often block when support is given to them. She explains how an overprotective nervous system can interfere with our ability to receive, and how this pattern is often rooted in the experience of being a guardian child and the overwhelm many gifted adults carry.
You are worthy of support. You are worthy of connection, of kind words, and of nervous system regulation. Learning to receive is part of coming home to yourself.

She explores why burnout is not a badge of honor, why it’s important to understand what real rest looks like for you, and how to give yourself permission for soulful recovery.

Your protector saboteur is an old part of you that formed to keep you safe, even though that protection may no longer be needed.
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, Dianne A. Allen explores how the protector saboteur shows up in our lives and how we can begin to release it with compassion. Through both client stories and her own experience, she shares how this inner protector exists in everyone, even though it takes different forms depending on our history.
Because true safety isn’t something we chase outside of ourselves. It’s something we learn to build from the inside out.
