Taking an Adult Time Out with Mark Anderson
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
Tuesday Apr 13, 2021
When we were kids, we always thought that a timeout was like punishment. But as adults, we realize that the timeout is a reward. In fact, it's necessary for our health development, especially for us sensitive people.
In this week's episode of Someone Gets Me, we are joined by Mark Anderson to share the fantastic benefits of floatation therapy (aka sensory deprivation) and the power of taking a break in a meaningful way.
Key Points You Need to Know:
✨ Floatation therapy is a widely accepted form of alternative treatment for various conditions, ailments and generally improving overall well-being.
✨ Float tanks have been around since the 1950s showing beneficial healing experiences for physical and mental health. But historically, floating on top of still salt water has been around for thousands of years.
✨ Floating occurs in a salt water tub with 1000 pounds of Epsom salt in just 200 gallons of water. As the water gets dense with salt, a person achieves perfect alignment under zero-gravity conditions. With the water at the same temperature as the skin, this removes the sense of touch.
✨ The homeostasis of the minerals is friendly and nourishes the body that a regular tub or shower won't do. Magnesium in the water that gets absorbed into the skin addresses magnesium deficiency, which causes heart problems, muscle spasms, constipation, and all kinds of stuff.
✨ This sensory deprivation treatment wrapped with the spa experience takes the scare out of it, so people can get comfortable and feel safe in a restricted environment.
✨ Coming from a military background, Mark saw how Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) had taken a hard toll on the lives of servicemen and women and their families. Ever since he tried his first session ten years ago -- Mark dreamt of reaching many people to experience these life-changing benefits.
✨ "So we're putting you in a very womb-like state. As you 'float,' it is pretty amazing what can happen cognitively with the world removed. It's just you, your breath, and peace." – Mark Anderson

"It's important that we all seize the opportunity to rectify whatever is not working, to grow and expand in ways that are healthy, safe, and compassionate. Floatation therapy is one of those things that can do that for us. It can give all of us a sense of safety, a place to process things where we do not have to be afraid." – Dianne Allen

Paul Teutul Sr Interview - As Seen On Orange County Choppers
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Tuesday Apr 06, 2021
Why does it take long years for some people to decide what they want to do in life while others know right away? In rare cases, some possess a strong vision compelled by the thought that they cannot be kept in a small confined box for the rest of their lives.
In this week's episode of Someone Gets Me, let's hear the story from visionary Paul Teutul Sr., the star of the long-running hit TV reality series American Chopper and co-founder of Orange County Choppers -- globally famous manufacturer of customized motorcycles.
Key points we've covered:
✨ Paul Sr. always knew that he'd be an entrepreneur. After getting out of high school, He went to work for his brother-in-law, who had a steel shop, when he decided that he didn't want to work for anybody.
✨ He was amazed that putting a piece of steel set together with much time and effort can become an entire building and how a frame built bit by piece can become a motorcycle. These two are what made his fame and fortune in life.
✨ Sr.'s colorful life saw tough challenges and struggles in family and business. For him, giving up is never an option. "If you're going after it, go after it. And even if there's a setback, derailment, or a time thing or something, that doesn't mean that you let go of it. It just means you reorient how you're going to get there."
✨ With an estimated net worth of $15 Million, there's much to learn from Sr.'s larger-than-life personality and decades of highs and lows in his personal and entrepreneurial journey.
✨ "I'm just a regular blue-collar guy Doing my steel business building bikes. I never would think that I'm ever going to be on TV. Do I change my clothes? Do I lose weight? I'm getting all that stuff going through my mind. And then, at the last minute, I said, you know, I'm just going to be who I am. And I think that was probably the success of the show."

The Importance of Setting Goals with Darlene Whitehurst
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Tuesday Mar 30, 2021
Often people may feel as though they're adrift. They work tirelessly, but they don't seem satisfied and feel like they're not worth the effort.
A core argument they hold for these views is that they've never invested enough time setting goals for themselves. Simply put, will you head off for a big journey with no apparent knowledge of your destination? Definitely not!
In life, goals are what push us forward; they are the oxygen to our dreams. Thus, it would be best to recognize the meaning and value of establishing goals and adapting this understanding to your life.
In this week's episode of Someone Gets Me, we will be joined by the founder of Goalfriends, Darlene Whitehurst. We'll share meaningful discussions on The Importance of Setting Goals and how a consistent planning process about your perfect future and encouraging oneself to transform starts with setting your goals.
Key takeaways covered in the episode:
✅ Most people set their goals at the start of the year with their new year's resolution. However, resolutions don't last. They have about an 8 % chance, and by about January 19th, most people have aborted most of the resolutions.
✅ Goal setting is often overlooked, yet the power of goal setting is where you start with anything. Don't let the start stop you.
✅ Getting clear with your goals is the key! Remember that clarity equals confidence, and confidence is empowering. It will motivate you neurologically to do more.
✅ Write your goals, share them, and have an accountability partner; you have almost a 100% chance of doing it. That's neuroscience! That's a fact! That's statistics!
✅ Remember always to trust your vision. Even if you don't see how it's going to happen or think the timing is wrong, there are answers and revelations.

How To Thrive During Change with Sarah Wong
Tuesday Mar 23, 2021

How To Thrive During Change?
Changes in life are necessary.
Whether it's a career shift, building or ending relationships, raising a family, or experiencing a tragedy, changes are part of being human. However, most of the time, these changes are tough to adjust to.
Prepared to cope with such changes, some of us find ourselves stuck in a 'fight or flight’ or ‘fear and freeze' reaction. Whether or not the changing experience was wanted, predicted, or unforeseen, there is no doubt that transitioning to a different set of circumstances is difficult. It takes physical and mental resources to adjust to change and reach a new balance point.
Moreover, many people staked their claim of how they hate change, do stuff the hard way and make their lives hard by staking that claim.
So how do we thrive during change?
In this episode of Someone Gets Me, we're joined by a young, fresh, vibrant, and full of life, Sarah Wong. You'll be excited to listen to Sarah because she is an expert and passionate about thriving through change.
Key takeaways covered in the episode:
- Know how to take back the ownership of your life, take power back into your own hands, and start to make decisions for yourself.
- Succeed in remembering that the real transformation is when we're disconnected. A metamorphosis is more than a change. It's a complete evolution to an entirely different form.
- Take into advisement that if you start in the physical realm to take care of yourself, it's a long way. Instead, burn the candle at both ends. Address the physical and address the spiritual and the mental-emotional in the middle so that you'll get faster results and freedom.
- Do not lose sight that intense, crazy, horrifying traumas are required for people to wake up. But in the end, people who go through those darkest times are the ones whose lights come out much brighter.
- Self-care is still and always will be the key. Self-care and taking care of ourselves, and loving ourselves is different from selfishness. That love for yourself is where the power comes; that's where life comes.
- Learn about Sarah Wong's Metamorphosis 101 program and the eleven-factor model she used when working with people to get to the root of their problem and help them solve that.

Ian Petrella Interview On Hope & Moving Forward In Life
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Tuesday Mar 16, 2021
Ian Petrella Interview
“We're naturally meant to be connected, so we're starting to get tired of being disconnected.” — Dianne A. Allen
This week on the Someone Gets Me Podcast, I interviewed Ian Petrella. Ian Petrella started his acting career at the age of three, a suggestion by an Aunt who worked at the Herb Tannen Talent Agency. Ian was presented a contract and a S.A.G. card after his very first audition. Through the years he appeared in numerous television commercials and T.V. shows. In 1983 Ian landed the part of Randy Parker in the now classic holiday film "A Christmas Story". It wouldn't be till later in his career when Ian would receive any kind of recognition for the role, but it was this film that put him into the hearts of millions.
Ian continues to tour and make appearances during the holiday season along with the rest of the cast of "A Christmas Story", bringing back fond memories to thousands of fans old and new. See what he is up to now on this week’s Someone Gets Me Podcast.
Part One of ‘Ian Petrella Interview’
Attending auditions has been a normal routine for Ian when he was young and by the time he got his big break, he was so proud of it and managed to balance his excitement and professionalism as an eight-year-old actor.
In 1983, Ian landed the part of Randy Parker in the now classic holiday film "A Christmas Story". This film elevated his career. Now, he is an amazing, talented adult, living his vision, everything from improv and puppetry and other forms of acting.
“You're going to be put on screen, and everybody's going to love you. But if you're not prepared for it, it can go to your head, and you could do some damaging things.” – Dianne A. Allen
Improv is something that he wanted to pursue for a long time. He’s eager to follow the footsteps of his so-called heroes, the people he admires the most. Ian also shares that the hardest thing about improv is it's not always about going for the joke or punch line. Improv is completely different from that. It's really more about listening to other people you're working with on stage. It's all about give and take.
Part Two of ‘Ian Petrella Interview’
Another interesting thing about Ian is that he’s attracted to puppetry because it feeds his creativity. Growing up, he loved watching puppets until he got into it later on as an adult. There was a time when he was only a production assistant and asked the director if he could play with the puppets.
That opened up an opportunity for his potential to be seen. Thus, he started working on different projects with that company. The 90s was a challenging time to get into puppetry because computers were coming in.
“Hollywood is a big game of "follow the leader." Whoever comes up with a good idea first, that's who you follow after that.” – Dianne A. Allen
In today’s digital era, puppetry is starting to make a good comeback. People sense nostalgia when they see a puppet. The most exciting part about it is that you’re acting using your voice and having to give all your emotions through body language to make that moment seem more alive.
Ian decided it was time to come home, not to L.A., but to San Francisco, where he studied film and performed puppetry independently for film and stage. While in school Ian discovered animation.
This was a good discovery since Ian was running out of money to perform and make puppets. Ian still continues his passion with cartooning to this day.
Ian Petrella Full Bio
Ian Petrella started his acting career at the age of three, a suggestion by an Aunt who worked at the Herb Tannen Talent Agency. Ian was presented a contract and a S.A.G. card after his very first audition. Through the years he appeared in numerous television commercials and T.V. shows.
Through his teen years Ian continued acting, and later began to study comedy improv. He trained at L.A's famous Groundlings Comedy Theater. At age 17 he was the youngest person ever to audition, and be accepted to attend classes. Performing for small audiences around L.A. Ian earned his comedy chops. Acting wasn't enough for Ian's creative juices; he wanted to explore more avenues of the entertainment business. He got a small gig as a P.A. on a new puppet show. Ian discovered that he was pretty good with puppets and that begin his career as a puppeteer. This landed him a few gigs on Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, and a great opportunity to work on a Jim Henson project.
After the millennium the work seemed to slow down and Ian quit acting and show business altogether. He turned in his S.A.G. card for a passport and left for Europe. During his six-month escape, Ian got a chance to study and learn the art of marionette puppetry in the Czech Republic.
As destiny would have it, Ian received a call from a gentleman inviting him to the 20th anniversary of "A Christmas Story". Rekindling with cast members and friends from his past, prompted Ian to give Hollywood another shot. With a new spark of inspiration to get his name back in the spotlight, Ian could once again re-light a fire that he thought died out a long time ago. Settling back in Los Angeles CA., Ian co-founded a production company creating web content and producing various animated shorts.

How to Define a Coach Vs. Mentor
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
Tuesday Mar 09, 2021
“A mentor is somebody who is like a trusted guide counselor.” — Dianne A. Allen
How important is a strong support system? How can you tell if you need help? In this week’s episode, we’re going to highlight a topic that is very timely, which is defining the difference between a coach or mentor.
Part One of ‘How to Define a Coach Vs. Mentor’
For gifted people, visionaries, and people with overexcitabilities, sometimes, it's very difficult to decide or even know what to ask. But let's clarify the difference between a coach and a mentor.
A coach is somebody who is really good at questions. A coach sees you as your own personal expert, and their role is to hold you accountable to doing what you say you're going to do and not doing what you say you're not going to do, so they can get you in the direction toward the goal that you state.
“When you align what you want with what you're seeking, everybody gets amplified.” – Dianne A. Allen
Your coach doesn't come up with your goals. They only hold you accountable to what you say you were going to do. Your coach must be someone who can ask very good discerning questions, who isn't afraid to ask the hard questions or give you feedback on something that you may or may not want to hear.
All humans require human connection which makes coaching even more valuable. Notice when you hire a personal trainer, you want to go to the gym more regularly because you're meeting another person.
Part Two of ‘How to Define a Coach Vs. Mentor’
A mentor, on the other hand, is somebody who is like a trusted guide counselor, but not necessarily a therapist. A mentor is somebody who's further along the road in life than you are, someone who’s more concerned with your overall personal development, regardless of how small or big your goals are.
A mentor is good at holding the space for all of those things and keeping track of them with you so that something doesn't fall by the wayside. Your mentor is somebody who has wisdom, knowledge, education, and life experience in the arenas that you are seeking assistance with.
“If you want accountability, find a coach.” – Dianne A. Allen
Your mentor is somebody who has wisdom, knowledge, education, and life experience in the arenas that you are seeking assistance with. A mentor is someone who helps you execute your vision so you can let your creative self show up and be everything you want to be.
So, decide what it is you're looking for. If you want accountability. If you want accountability plus overall personal development, find a mentor in the arena that's important to you. If you're thinking something's wrong and you really need to make sure that you're not going down the deep end or something is really a problem, find a good therapist.
Everybody has a different vibe, different way of looking at things, different skill set, and a different language base. You want to try to really listen for alignment and amplification. At the end of the day, you want someone who makes you feel better and challenged. Someone who makes you say, "They helped me see my blind spot I didn't want to see, but I'm really glad they told me." You get to decide what’s best for you.

Rich Daniels Advice on Precision and Vision
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
Tuesday Mar 02, 2021
“The more we keep discovering, the more it keeps us alive and vibrant.” — Dianne A. Allen
You cannot see, taste, or touch music. But you can hear it, and you can most certainly feel it. Music can help relieve the stress, burden and bring you to a more peaceful place. It keeps us alive and vibrant. In this week’s episode, we are joined by Rich Daniels.
Part One of ‘Rich Daniels Advice on Precision and Vision’
Music was always a passion for Daniels as he realized at a very young age that it was possible to captivate an audience with a live performance while touching their hearts and minds in an indelible way.
Rich Daniels has been creating and conducting memorable musical concerts and events since 1974 when he began his professional journey as a high school freshman on the great south side of Chicago. He views the opportunity he has been given to have a career in music as a measure of service to others.
“When music resonates with our hearts, it can heal and touch us in many ways.” – Dianne A. Allen
Rich is also traveling the country conducting regional orchestras (i.e., Baltimore Symphony, Berkeley Symphony, Richmond Philharmonic, Hartford Philharmonic, Colorado Symphony, Nashville Symphony, etc.) for the estate of Jerry Garcia performing a “Jerry Garcia Symphonic Celebration” with legendary guitarist/vocalist Warren Haynes.
Through the vehicle of The City Lights Orchestra, he has been given a chance to participate in thousands of programs nationwide for associations, corporations and non-profit organizations. Additionally, Rich and his colleagues have had the chance to take the stage and perform in concert with some of the greatest musical artists of the past half-century.
Wherever the need and whatever the medium, Daniels and his musicians have proven they are up to the task of making great music a part of every performance and assignment they have been given.
Part Two of ‘Rich Daniels Advice on Precision and Vision’
Artists as diverse as Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Garth Brooks, Rosemary Clooney, Dionne Warwick, Burt Bacharach, Michael Buble, and David Foster have all relied upon the ability of Rich Daniels and his orchestra to collaborate with them to create their special brand of magic in performance.
In recent years Daniels has also been busy in the studio composing and producing recordings for a wide range of projects. As the television and film industry has once again discovered Chicago as a great place to work, Daniels was recently tapped to be the musical supervisor for three different television series and allowed to compose music for the pilot of the Emmy-award winning show “Boss” starring Kelsey Grammer and filmed in Chicago.
“Music shouldn't be viewed as something that requires someone to be better than somebody else.” – Rich Daniels
Rich and the orchestra were also featured in a concert on PBS this past Fall for the Horatio Alger Society of Distinguished Americans. These TV duties have also included being the on-camera music director for five seasons for the hit show on FOX, EMPIRE starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, and Jussie Smollett. Rich has recently music directed for Jussie & Terrence on a PBS concert filmed at the Lyric Opera House in Chicago and most recently with Jussie and Renee Fleming at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. with the National Symphony Orchestra.
Live music is meant to be a joyous experience that should entertain and inspire the listener while taking the audience on an emotional journey that allows them to be empowered by the spirit of this non-tangible entity.
About Rich Daniels
Rich is most proud of the various charitable organizations his career has allowed him to serve and promote, especially The Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago (former board chairman), the DePaul University School of Music (current board chairman) and the Archdiocese Office of Human Dignity & Solidarity (chairman).
Rich was appointed by Illinois Governor Patrick Quinn to the board of the Illinois Arts Council in 2013. He is also the senior board member at the Chicago Federation of Musicians and a delegate to the Chicago Federation of Labor. Rich and his lovely wife Kathy have been married for 32 years and have 4 beautiful children: Rich (30), Mary Kate (29), Emily (26) and Maggie (24). Son Rich was recently married to Maggie Black in July of 2017! Rich Daniels knows that he’s a very lucky guy. And that through hard work, perseverance and tenacity, together with a strong sense of faith, all things are possible.
JAZZ/POP ADDENDUM
During the 1980’s and 1990’s Rich toured extensively with former Tonight Show drummer Ed Shaughnessy. Additionally, Rich also was asked by the estate of Woody Herman to take the band out in 1991 for several tours around the country. During this same period of time, Rich played for or conducted for Louis Bellson, Ray Charles, Mel Torme, Buddy DeFranco, Phil Wilson and many “pop” personalities including Garth Brooks, Dennis DeYoung, Michael Buble and David Foster. Rich was also a featured soloist with Laurel Masse’ both in concert and on several of her recordings.

Smart People Dating with Dr. Matt Zakreski and Dr. Julia Hodgson
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
Tuesday Feb 23, 2021
“If you lead with the things that matter most to you, you're giving yourself a much better chance of success.” — Dr. Matt Zakreski
Are you wondering how smart people navigate dating? Dating someone may require you to take authentic leaps to bring out your vulnerable side and create intimacy with the other person. In this week's episode, we are joined by Dr. Matt Zakreski and Dr. Julia Hodgson.
Part One of ‘Smart People Dating with Dr. Matt Zakreski and Dr. Julia Hodgson’
Ultimately, we're looking for people who are on a similar wavelength to us, have similar interests and values. Commonality creates intimacy, which sustains a relationship because you can be intimate with friends and co-workers. You will find that wherever you go, the people you get along with, cognitively have similar brains to yours. So, those are the people you usually create intimate relationships with.
“All relationships give us that opportunity to expand, grow, and become more authentic from the inside out.” – Dianne A. Allen
They help you acknowledge and accept every bit of who you are. It's about being unapologetic for being smart and being your authentic self without being a threat to the person you're dating. Nobody thinks the same way that you do. That's where the beauty of diversity steps in.
Part Two of ‘Smart People Dating with Dr. Matt Zakreski and Dr. Julia Hodgson’
People have different reasons for dating someone. Depending on where you are at life right now, you may be seeking things other than intellectual stimulation, which is fine because it's a journey.
“The person we're dating is someone who should challenge us and make us better.” – Dr. Julia Hodgson
Take a moment to reflect on why you're dating someone and who's the kind of person you want to date. The person you're dating should be someone who sees the good things in you and help you elevate them. The more serious you get about it, the more you realize that dating isn't just about sex or meeting the parents. It's about being together and engaging in activities where both of you are operating on the same depth of intensity.

The Power of Perseverance with Kathy Garver
“Visionaries and creatives tend to be more emotionally sensitive.” — Dianne A. Allen
2020 has been a tough year for everybody which makes perseverance a relevant topic to talk about. Think about the hard times you opted to persevere when you had all the chance to give up. After all, what can you achieve by giving up? Winners in life don’t quit.
In this week’s episode, we have Kathy Garver to share with us her journey and the importance of perseverance.
Part One of ‘The Power of Perseverance with Kathy Garver’
Back in high school, Kathy started wondering what her life purpose is. Living in Los Angeles, her mother enrolled her into a singing and dance class, with the expectation of becoming the next Shirley Temple. She didn't start working professionally until she was eight.
Hollywood's legendary Cecil B. DeMille was one of the first to recognize Kathy's distinct talents. Originally hired for a small part in the epic motion picture "The Ten Commandments," Kathy was noticed by the great director who had special scenes written into the movie to highlight the little girl. This followed her first film, The Night of the Hunter, directed by Academy Award winner Charles Laughton.
“In the entertainment business, you have to be able to do a lot of things.” – Kathy Garver
Kathy doesn't suffer from the sometimes-exaggerated maladies common to former child actors. The hardest thing is being accepted as someone who has depth. Her parents stressed education and normalcy through her childhood and during her Family Affair days, in learning to think and work independently.
One of the most significant conclusions of why so many famous child stars did not make the transition from being a well-renowned personage, well-reviewed, to jumping over to success is because:
One, the parents took all their money, and when they got to be 18, they didn't have anything. They were bitter and resentful.
Two, they didn't have an education or any other skill sets on which to maneuver and move on to.
Three, they got depressed because they weren't in the limelight anymore. They went from the cute little kid to the awkward teenager, and nobody was buying in Hollywood. The emotionality led them to drugs. It's a serious thing that happens to other child stars.
Part Two of ‘The Power of Perseverance with Kathy Garver’
Kathy's parents have always been supportive but when they moved from Los Angeles to San Bernardino, her awkward transition away from the limelight turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
Ms. Garver was a freshman majoring in speech at UCLA when she was tested for a television series entitled Family Affair. Kathy, deemed "perfect" to star as "Cissy" with Brian Keith as "Uncle Bill" and Sebastian Cabot as "Mr. French" performed for five years in one of the warmest and most enduring series of the 1960s and '70s. With Anissa Jones as "Buffy" and Johnny Whitaker as "Jody," the show continues to be popular today, pleasing old and new audiences worldwide – a true classic.
“Be joyful every day and make the most of who you are.” – Kathy Garver
Kathy is also very much in demand for her numerous vocal characterizations. She's a stand out in the very competitive field of voices overs for cartoons, commercials, toys, and audiobooks. She voiced "Pepper" an automotive whiz in the Chuck Norris Karate Kommandos series and "Firestar," a mutant superhero in the Spiderman and his Amazing Friends TV series. Ms. Garver produced, narrated, and wrote lyrics and original music for eight audio Beatrix Potter tales and eight Mother Goose based audiotapes for Smarty Pants, Inc.
Kathy's Beatrix Potter tapes have sold over two million copies and have won numerous awards. Ms. Garver has also won two Audie Awards, one for her narration of The World's Shortest Stories, the other in 2004 for her direction of Amy Tan in The Opposite of Fate read by the author. Kathy has recorded books for Brilliance Audio, Dove, Listen, and Live and can be downloaded at the Timberwolfpress.com site. Her voice has been heard in Apollo 13 (which was awarded the Academy Award for sound), Ransom, Back Draft, and Jingle all the Way, all directed by Ron Howard.
It takes hard work, dedication, and focus to accomplish something. No matter what your talent is, use all of them to spark inspiration in others. Be proud of yourself, no matter what circumstances you're in. Don't let your negative thoughts consume you and make you think you'll never achieve your goals.
About Kathy Garver
Kathy was born in Long Beach, California to Hayes and Rosemary Garver joining her sister, Beverly, and brothers, Hayes, Jr. and Lance. Beverly entered UCLA at a precocious 15 years old at the time Kathy started working professionally. During Ms. Garver’s teenage years, Kathy added radio and stage to her burgeoning film and television career.
Kathy now has her own family affair. She met her husband of 33 years, business executive David Travis, on a tennis court in Palm Springs – truly a love match. Their son Reid Garver Travis, now 23, continues the tradition of show business by appearing in national commercials, TV, movies and by doing voice overs.
Most fondly remembered for her starring role as “Cissy” in the long running CBS international television hit, “Family Affair”, Kathy Garver has also garnered critical acclaim in movies, stage, radio, voice-over animation, and audio book narration.
Ms. Garver has used her wealth of experience and education to entertain and instruct thousands of people with her exciting and successful motivational and interactive speeches and presentations. From Keynote speaker to host to workshop leader, Kathy Garver has enriched the lives of those who have been able to listen and learn from her inspirational communications.
Kathy is available for corporate events, hosting, emceeing, moderating groups, giving lectures, workshops, keynote addresses and tailoring specific programs for the needs of her clients. She includes workbooks and takes home audio albums for her clients and audience members.
Today, Kathy Garver is an accomplished and versatile actress, appearing in such films as Sweet November, The Princess Diaries, MOW'S such as FBI Murders and Stay the Night with Guest Star roles on many TV shows. She is a sought-after celebrity on Game shows, winning top money for charities as she did on “Street Smarts” and other reality programs.

How to Change Your Life Before You Have to with Dr. Rachel Sterry
“Having a lot of negative self-talk about body image and making a change from a place of fear is most likely not going to be sustainable.” — Dr. Rachel Sterry
How many times have you tried to change something you’ve been unsuccessful in changing before? In this week’s episode, we have Dr. Rachel Sterry, an acupuncturist and a doctor of natural medicine talking about how to change your life before you have to.
Part One of ‘How to Change Your Life Before You Have to with Dr. Rachel Sterry’
Dr. Sterry shares a difference between wanting to embrace change and thinking you should make a change. These two things have a significant bearing on your success because real change must come from a place of excitement and the motivation to achieve good health. If it comes from the place of “I should do this,” it takes on a very different tone.
“The value is not in the doing. It's in your inherent beingness.” – Dianne A. Allen
Some people who want to make changes to their diet end up having many negative self-talk and body shaming themselves. The truth is, if it comes from a place of fear, it’s not going to be sustainable in the long run. The choices you make today will impact who you’re going to be in the next years of your life.
Part Two of ‘How to Change Your Life Before You Have to with Dr. Rachel Sterry’
Dr. Sterry says, “I’m a big believer in sustainable change. I don’t think you can do that by changing everything all at once.”
The kind of change you wish to happen depends on how solid your foundation is. There is no magic pill, magic wand, or genie in a bottle that could facilitate the changes just because you want to see quick results, whatever that may be.
“You need to change something that you've been unsuccessful in changing before.” – Dr. Rachel Sterry
It all boils down to one question: what is your biggest motivator? If you’re driven by fear, it’s usually because of guilt and shame, especially if they’re not engaging in the process they’ve agreed to change.
Just like grapes that need to be turned into good wine, it's more about the soil. It doesn't matter what you spray on your grapes and what you do to them. If you don't plant them in soil rich in what they need, they're not going to thrive. It’s the same way that we're approaching medicine right now; the soil symbolizes our health. Are you taking care of your body in the ways that are going to allow you to thrive?
About Dr. Rachel Sterry
She received her BA in medical anthropology from Colby College, and, after declining an offer to attend Harvard Medical School, she received my medical training from the National University of Natural Medicine.
This brings us to today, where she gets to help busy mamas reclaim their health and live the life they’ve envisioned.
For me, the dream is helping mamas take care of themselves as well as care for everyone else so they get to enjoy the sometimes bumpy journey through motherhood.
